My BlizzCon Journey

- Un rêve depuis des années -Lorsque j'ai commencé le cosplay il y a maintenant 5 ans, j'avais déjà pour rêve d'aller à la BlizzCon, participer au concours et de monter sur cette scène mythique ! Je suis une grande fan de jeux vidéo depuis que je suis toute petite. A cette époque, j'avais en tête deux personnages : Diablo et Kerrigan. Il me fallait beaucoup plus de temps et de pratique pour réaliser ce genre de costume. Les designs cosplay commençaient à se faire connaître à ce moment, et moi-même je débutais mes études en 2D/3D Game Arts. Par la suite, Amanda Costumes m'a contactée, et nous partagions du coup la même idée : créer un design humanisé de Diablo. Etant une fan de lore, j'ai voulu créer une petite histoire pour rendre le design logique : Léah, The Prime Evil. "Et si Léah avait vaincu Diablo et le portait comme armure". Je vous parle de cela, c'était il y a DEUX ANS ! Et oui, ce projet ne s'est pas fait en un jour. Il fallait prévoir le temps de travail, la conception, et surtout le budget...
- Un énorme budget -
Les rêves ont un prix... Entre le matériel pour le costume, les billets d'avion, la convention, l'hôtel, les frais sur place ET SURTOUT, le transport du costume... Accrochez-vous, on va parler chiffres : 1300€ de matériel (environ, c'est toujours un peu plus...), 700€ d'avion, 220€ le ticket (Merci Asheryth et Thomas de chez Blizzard pour m'avoir offert un pass média au final), et UPS : L'aller très bien, 800€ en express, au final comme il est resté bloqué 2 jours à la douane, je ne vais payer "que" 475€. Le retour.... Avec les valises pour le séjour, on ne pouvait pas se permettre d'être avec ces deux énormes cartons, donc on est retourné chez UPS. 1475$. Et je ne voulais pas prendre le risque (pour une différence de 500€), de le prendre avec nous dans l'avion, de retrouver le costume en miettes et de nous embêter avec les paquets à transporter. Bref, le budget a été explosé avec le transport. C'est la seule chose négative dans toute cette histoire.
- Le costume -
700 HEURES de travail en 3 mois. Autant vous dire que j'ai dû prendre beaucoup (trop) de commandes pour pouvoir subvenir à mes besoins avant de passer trois mois sur le costume. Un livre cosplay avec beaucoup de photos et des explications détaillées sortira prochainement d'ailleurs. La création en tant que telle s'est bien déroulée, c'était surtout une épreuve d'endurance. Je ne vais pas vous cacher que cela a été rude autant physiquement que moralement. Mais je ne voulais rien lâcher jusqu'au bout, je voulais tout donner et réaliser ce rêve !
- Le concours -
Tout est passé tellement vite : la sélection, l'enregistrement, la préparation, le prejudging, l'attente, les quelques minutes sur scène, et voilà. Ah oui ? On me dit que je ne peux pas m'asseoir avec ce costume sans le retirer entièrement..? Bref, j'ai passé 10 heures debout. Après trois mois de rush, le décalage horaire, le stress que le costume arrive en un morceau... C'était très difficile. Je remercie énormément mes amis pour leur soutien ce jour-là : Vilina Cosplay qui était aussi dans le concours, et nos deux merveilleux helpers : Xia Cosplay et Elynarhya. Que dire sur le concours : c'était génial, la journée entourée d'autres cosplayers, le plaisir de monter sur scène. J'étais très heureuse de vivre tout cela, et cela méritait tous les sacrifices que j'avais fait !

Géniale ! J'étais très heureuse d'avoir un maquillage creepy vu le nombre de larmes que j'ai versé. Vous m'avez fait pleurer de joie. Lorsque nous sommes sorties après le concours avec Vilina, nous avons été ovationnées sur tout le chemin de retour jusqu'à l'hôtel. La communauté était magique ! Je n'avais jamais vécu une chose aussi incroyable ! J'ai reçu des milliers de messages pour ma victoire ! J'ai à nouveau pleuré en recevant des messages de ma famille qui me disait qu'elle était fière de moi. Nous avons reporté nos costumes le lendemain malgré la fatigue et les lacérations sur nos corps, et nous avons à nouveau passé des heures magnifiques en votre compagnie. C'est inoubliable.

- A huge budget -
Dreams have a price ... Between materials for the costume, the flight tickets, the convention, the hotel, the expenses on the spot AND ESPECIALLY, the transport of the costume ... Hang on, I will speak with numbers: 1300€ of materials (approximately, it is always a bit more ...), 700€ for flights, 220€ for the ticket (Thanks Asheryth and Thomas from Blizzard for giving me a media pass at last), and UPS: Paris-LosAngeles was "fine", 800 € in express, in the end as it was blocked 2 days at the customs, the bill was reduced to 475€. LA-Paris .... With the suitcases, we could not afford to be with these two huge boxes, so we went back to UPS. $1475. And I did not want to take the risk (for a difference of 500€), to take them with us on the plane, to find the costume in pieces and to bother us with the packages to carry at the airport. In short, the budget was exploded with transport. That's the only negative thing in this whole story.
- The costume -
700 HOURS of work in 3 months. Well. I had to take many (too much...) orders to be able to provide for my needs before spending three months on the costume. A cosplay book with lots of pictures and detailed explanations will be released soon. The creation went well, it was mostly an endurance challenge. I will not hide from you that it has been hard, both physically and morally. But I did not want to give up, I wanted to do my best and realize this dream!
- The contest -
Everything went so fast: selection, registration, preparation, prejudging, waiting, the few minutes on stage, and that's it. Ah yes ? Someone is telling me that I can not sit with this costume without removing it entirely ..? In short, I spent 10 hours standing up. After three months of rush, the jet lag, the stress that the costume arrives without damages ... It was very painful. I thank my friends so much for their support that day: Vilina Cosplay who was also in the competition, and our two wonderful helpers: Xia Cosplay and Elynarhya. What about the contest: it was wonderful. A full day with other cosplayers and the pleasure of going on stage. I was very happy to experience all of this, and that deserved all the sacrifices I did before!

AWESOME! I was very happy to have a creepy makeup because of the number of tears I cried. You made me shed tears of joy. When we came out after the contest with Vilina, we were cheered all the way back to the hotel ! The community was magic! I had never experienced such an incredible thing! I received thousands messages for my victory. I cried again when I received messages from my family telling me that they are proud of me. We have worn our costumes the next day, despite fatigue and lacerations on our bodies, and we again spent wonderful hours in your company. It's unforgettable.
